Following a confrontation between the Philippine Army troops and NPAs in Sitio Nolwan, Barangay Siya, Tapaz, Capiz early on January 25, 2022, soldiers from the Army’s 301st Infantry Brigade seized a hideout of the CPP-NPA Terrorists.

Prior to the confrontation, the 301Bde received information from local residents concerned about the presence of armed NPA terrorists preparing extortion in the neighborhoods and an attack on a military patrol camp in the region.

The Brigade promptly started a coordinated combat operation to thwart the enemy’s nefarious scheme, which resulted in a confrontation.

One anti-personnel mine, one hand grenade, one CPP-NPA flag, one cellphone charger, one wristwatch, two pairs of rain boots, one rucksack, electrical wires, subversive documents, assorted medicine, and other personal goods were seized during the 10-minute encounter. Heavy bloodstains were also discovered on the enemy’s retreat route, indicating that members of the terrorist organization had received serious injuries.

“CPP NPA terrorists in Capiz can no longer seek refuge with communities who are now fed up with their lies and atrocities. Their only option now is to surrender or get killed,” said MGen Benedict Arevalo, Commander, 3ID.
