The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) was awarded the Army Governance Pathway (AGP) Proficient Status with Gold Trailblazer Award on January 28, 2022 at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
In a simple awarding ceremony in conjunction with 53IB’s 37th Founding Anniversary celebration, Col. Norberto Agbay, Chief of the Army’s 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division (1ID) Governance and Strategy Management Office (GSMO), presented the award. During the AGP Proficient Stage Revalida Presentation on November 25, 2021, 53IB received a score of 96.47%.
Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, Commanding Officer of the 53IB, expressed his gratitude for the award, noting that the Battalion will continue to strive for excellence.
“The conferral of Proficient Status with Gold Trailblazer Award is the result of 53IB troops’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to duty. The Battalion shall continue to strive for excellence,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
The Army Transformation Roadmap is coordinated with the 53IB Transformation Roadmap. The ATR was designed to pave the way for the whole Philippine Army to be transformed into a strategy-driven, efficient, fully mission capable, ethical, competent, and professional organization dedicated to serving the people and securing the land.
