Troops of 51st Mechanized Infantry Company under Cpt. Earlborne Jan P. Manquiquis (CAV) PA together with the personnel of Nunungan MPS and 2nd LDN PMFC under Maj. Recto B. Iwangan, COP Nunungan MPS responded to a reported armed confrontation (RIDO) between two warring families at Brgy. Rarab, Nunungan, Lanao del Norte on Sunday, January 30, 2022.
The firefight involves the Alimodang Family of Brgy. Rarab and Gaus Family of Brgy. Dimayon.
According to the report, upon reaching Brgy. Lupitan, Nunungan, LDN, the troops were fired upon by more or less five members of Alimodang Family positioned inside their house that prompted the authorities to return fire and lasted for more or less 30 minutes and said members of Alimodang Family fled towards North East direction.
After the firefight, troops conducted clearing operation and discovered six foxholes and numerous fired cartridge cases including two cartons of 5.56mm; 200 fired cartridges of 5.56mm; seven cartridge case of cal .30mm; 32 cartridge case of 7.62mm and one plastic container of rifle grenade.
Based on the information gathered, members of the Gaus Family launched an attack against Alimodang Family as retaliation to the death of their family member that started the armed confrontation between the aforementioned families.
“With the troops immediate response and calibrated actions, the situation was normally restored and no casualties reported from the warring families and on the government side (Army & PNP),” said Col.
