The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., and Gen. Charles A. Flynn, Commanding General, United States Army Pacific (CG, USARPAC) held a virtual bilateral meeting on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
“We just want to express our gratitude for all the support that you have been giving the Philippine Army through our trainings, exchanges, and exercises,” said Lt. Gen. Brawner.
The CGPA also expressed gratitude to the US military for assisting PA in improving its capabilities. He expressed his gratitude to USARPAC in particular for providing military support and technological intelligence to PA, which was critical in fighting ISIS-inspired terrorists who invaded and captured Marawi City in 2017.
Gen. Flynn was also informed by Lt. Gen. Brawner that the PA intends to send a company-sized delegation to the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center in Hawaii this year. The US general congratulated Lt. Gen. Brawner on his recent promotion to three-star rank and designation as CGPA.
In order to improve the Philippine Army’s combined arms capacity, Gen. Flynn noted that the USARPAC is eager to share lessons and knowledge in the formation of quick reaction deployable Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs).
In his command guidance, the CGPA pledged to improve the skills of troops, one of the Philippine Army’s most valuable resources, in order to further reinforce the Army units’ capabilities toward mission completion.
