Following a tip-off from concerned locals, troops of 6th Special Forces Battalion (6SFBn) and the CAFGU Active Auxiliary stationed in Patikul recover two high-powered firearms of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits under Radulan Sahiron.
According to Joint Task Force (JTF) -Sulu and 11th Infantry Division (11ID) Acting Commander BGen Antonio I Bautista Jr, 6SFBn immediately acted upon the intelligence report and proceeded to a grassy area by the hinterlands in Brgy Tanum, Patikul around 5:40pm yesterday.
“We captured an M14 and M16 rifle. I’m certain that this accomplishment will impact their depleting supplies. More importantly, it will demoralize them given that Tanum residents pinpointed the location of the cache,” notes BGen Bautista.
Per 6SFBn Commander Ltc Rafael P Caido, other items found were four steel magazines, several rounds of ammunitions, bandolier, solar panel, seven sim cards, hammock, and a backpack.
“There were 8 CAAs, all Tausug, who were part of the 22-man team led by my executive officer, Maj Rudyard Garcia. Very integral ang role ng CAA dahil kabisado nila ang Tanum. Dito natin nakikita ang dedikasyon nila sa trabahong sundalo, dito natin nakikita ang pagmamalasakit nila sa kanilang lugar.”
11ID Acting Division Commander BGen Antonio I Bautista Jr congratulated the troops of 6th Special Forces Battalion (6SFBn) and the CAFGU Active Auxiliary for the continuous effort and support to serve the people and the province of Sulu.
