Philippine Army’s 9ID, PNP capture CNT weapons in Sorsogon

Troops from the Army’s 9th Infantry Division and policemen captured high-powered firearms and other war materials of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in separate operations on February 11, 2022.

Operating troops from the 22nd Infantry Battalion captured three M16 A1 rifles, one caliber .38, two anti-personnel mines, blasting caps, five M16 magazines, 20-meter electrical wires, 73 rounds of M16 ammo, propaganda materials and personal items after conducting a combat operation in Barangay Calpi, Bulan, Sorsogon.

Meanwhile, joint elements of the 31st Infantry Battalion and the PNP captured three M16 rifles and propaganda materials after encountering a group of CNTs in Sitio Man-ao, Baragay San Fernando, Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded operating units of the 9th Infantry Division for scoring back-to-back wins against CNTs in Sorsogon. Lt. Gen. Brawner vowed to provide resources to Army units nationwide to bolster their anti-insurgency operations.
