Philippine Army’s 91IB, PNP seize CNT arms cache in Aurora

The Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army Major General Andrew D. Costelo PA, said that various war materiel believed to be cached by the remnants of the Komiteng Larangang Guerrilla – Sierra Madre was seized by the authorities in Brgy. Calaocan, Dipaculao, Aurora on February 18, 2022.

According to MGen Costelo, the troops 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, under the supervision of the 703rd Infantry (AGILA) Brigade, together with the personnel from 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company led by PLt Rommel Manahan immediately conducted the operation following the tip-off of alias “Along”, who is a former member of CTG’s NPA in the Barrio or Milisyang Bayan.

Among the items recovered were three M203 Grenade Launcher ammunition; empty bandoleers; three M16 magazines; two M14 magazines; 50 ammunition for 60 calibers; 10 M14 live ammunition; 17 M16 live ammunition; six M1 Garand ammunition; and an NPA flag.

“We recognized the full cooperation of our FRs as they already realized how dangerous this terrorist group is to the lives of the peace-loving communities in Aurora and how their rotten ideology ruins someone’s bright future. Nonetheless, we welcome every information that they shared as it is vital in our campaign to end the communist insurgency,” said MGen Costelo.

Meanwhile, Colonel Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, Commander of the 703rd Infantry (AGILA) Brigade, Philippine Army said that the accomplishments of the Army and PNP are the result of the continued implementation of the ‘whole-of-nation’ approach under the E.O No. 70 that aims to have an inclusive peace and development.

“In our 4th year of implementation of E.O No. 70, we can say that we are already reaping its fruits — the influx of surrender of former CTG members, rapid dissolution of CTG’s mass base, the full cooperation of Former Rebels, and the immeasurable support of the community to our campaign,” said Colonel Pasamonte.
