The Local Government Unit of Tboli highlighted its accomplishments with regard to addressing insurgency in the municipality Tuesday, February 22 at the Tboli Knoon Monument.
Mayor Dibu Tuan emphasized in his report that even prior to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Executive Order No. 70 and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), the municipal government, in partnership with the security sector, have been delivering services to far-flung areas through its flagship outreach program, Kariton ni Dibu, as well as provision of scholarship program that aims to produce at least one degree holder per family, especially among the indigenous peoples community.
Mayor Tuan also lauded the government for pouring in several road projects to the municipality leading to improved access for farmer’s produce and easy travel of visitors to the tourist destinations in Tboli.
During the consultative meeting cum presentation of accomplishments of MTF-ELCAC, 16 former members of the New Peoples’ Army who have returned to the fold of the law, along with several surrendered firearms, were presented to the public.
Through a video message, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana congratulated LGU Tboli for its accomplishments.
“Malugod ko’ng binabati qng Municipal Task Force sa matagumpay ninyong pagsulong ng programang pangkapayapaan sa Tboli, South Cotabato. Natutuwa ako na kayo ay kaakibat ng NTF-ECAC at ng Kagawaran ng Tanggulang Pambansa upang mawakasan ang banta ng kumunismo. Ang inyong tagumpay ay nagpapatunay ng kahalagahan ng pagtatatag ng local task forces pababa sa ating mga kumunidad,” Sec. Lorenzana said.
