The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has responded to a fire incident at Bulan Port in Barangay Zone 4, Bulan, Sorsogon on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Personnel of the PCG Sub-Station Bulan were conducting a pre-departure inspection onboard MB SUN RISER 9 when they observed that MV COOPERATIVE SJM-7 was on fire.
The said vessel, owned and operated by San Jacinto Small Scale Sea Trans Cooperative and homeported in Legazpi City, had eight crew members on board when the incident occurred.
Immediately, the PCG contacted the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Bulan and cordoned the area to control the fire. When the BFP personnel arrived, the PCG assisted in combatting the fire with an undetermined cause as of press time.
All crew members were safe and in good physical condition.
