The Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi, Naval Task Group Tawi-Tawi, and 2nd Marine Brigade led by Brigadier Gen. Romeo T Racadio PN(M) established the Sovereignty Marker in Panggungan Island, Brgy Datu Baguinda Puti, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.
Activity participants comprise of NGOs, academe, local officials, government sector under BARMM, and the provincial LGUs.
The All-In-One mission benefitted many individuals in the said area by the distribution of food packs and relief goods, clean-up drive, coconut planting, counseling sessions for Bajau women, youth, and elders. Moreover, the activity was further highlighted through the conduct of the flag-raising ceremony and the inauguration of the newly constructed multi-purpose hall donated by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to the Jade’s Bajau Learning Center, Inc. (JBLCI).\
During his remarks, BGEN Racadio emphasized that establishing a sovereignty marker in the island is a way of exercising the state’s power in demonstrating its lawful ownership to its territory and all the inhabitants living in the said island. Further, it is a way of imparting the residents’ mindset of the equal entitlement of their right and protection as mandated in the Philippine Constitution.
