Communist terrorist killed, firearms seized in Catanduanes

Following an intense firefight against Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recovered an enemy cadaver and firearms in San Miguel, Catanduanes.

Acting on information from concerned civilians about the presence of an armed group, troops of the 83rd Infantry Battalion together, with members of the Police Mobile Force Company encountered more or less 10 CTG members on March 10, 2022 at the vicinity of Sitio Kuripdas, Barangay JMA Alberto of said municipality.

Operating troops seized the hideout of the CTG and recovered one M14 rifle, 17 anti-personnel mines, terrorist propaganda materials, and personal belongings.

Major General Alex Luna PA, Commander of 9th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force (JTF) Bicolandia said government forces will not stop in the campaign to end local armed conflict in the Region. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the doors of JTF Bicolandia are always open for those who will choose the path of peace.
