Three members of the communist NPA terrorists (CNTs) were killed, one captured in an encounter with the soldiers of 58th Infantry Battalion under the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in Sitio Solana, Barangay Plaridel, Claveria, Misamis Oriental on March 18, at 7:05 a.m.

Soldiers were on combat operation when they encountered more or less seven CNTs believed to be members of Weakened Guerilla Front (WGF Huawei, Sub Regional Command (SRC)1, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

On the same day at 8:20 a.m., soldiers encountered the same group at the vicinity of Cabuleg River, of the said barangay.

The encounter lasted for about 10 minutes. Then, the enemy scampered in different directions.

Troops seized M16 rifle with magazine and ammunition, carbine rifle with magazine and ammunition, KG9, subversive documents, and other personal belongings owned by the group.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs Chief Col. Jorry Baclor said the AFP is positive that the CPP/NPA will soon become irrelevant or ordinary criminals due to its loss of mass base.

“This is a clear manifestation that the CPP/NPA in the country is losing ground,” Col. Baclor said.
