Ex-Abu Sayyaf members receive assistance from AFP, Sulu gov’t

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in partnership with the local government unit of Patikul, Sulu, distributed assistance packages to 12 former Abu Sayyaf Group members on Sunday, March 20.

The 21st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army under Joint Task Force Sulu facilitated the distribution during its 49th founding anniversary celebration.

“We put premium to the former Abu Sayyaf Group members who chose to embrace peaceful living. In our own simple way and in partnership with Mayor Kabir Hayudini of Patikul, Sulu, and the Ministry of Social Welfare and Development, we distributed assistance package.” said 21st IB Commander Lt. Col. Eddie Abolencia.

Mayor Hayudini for his part expressed his sincere gratitude to the members of 21IB for their selfless and untiring efforts to bring peace in Patikul.

The Commander of 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Sulu Major General Ignatius N Patrimonio graced the event as Guest of Honor and Speaker. He extended his gratitude to the local government unit of Patikul and other partner stakeholders for their untiring support to the troops and the community.

“Let us remain focused on our task and zero-in the enemy so that peace and development will be realized all throughout the Province of Sulu, he said.
