Two members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) were killed in an encounter in So. Malicolico, Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on March 26, 2022.

The encounter between the 94th Infantry Battalion and more or less five NPA terrorist happened at around 3:10 p.m., which lasted for about five minutes.

Recovered from the encounter site were grenade; medical kit; nine shotgun ammunition; one scope, and various subversive documents. This is in addition to the recoveries on the recent related encounter on March 25, 2022 in the same area.

Illegal drugs (Shabu) and paraphernalia were recovered on NPAs belongings. There were informations received that the leaders of the terrorist group are now using illegal drugs to lure and psychologically control their members.

Also, along with the recoveries from the March 25-26 encounters, were new flags of the CPP NPA NDF. Their is a high possibility that these flags along with other enemy supplies and war materiel will be used to celebrate their (NPA ) anniversary this coming March 29, 2022.

MGen Arevalo said that the series of encounter in Negros island will serve as an eye-opener to the remaining NPAs who still refuse to surrender to the government to lay down and return to the government and live a normal life together with their families.

He also said that it is alarming that the CPP NPA NDF terrorists are now starting to force their members to use Illegal drugs. The Command through the engaged units will coordinate with the PNP and other concerned agency in filing appropriate charges related to this discovery.

“As we always say, that there are only two things that could happen to NPA members if they will not surrender, they can be either captured and go to jail, or get killed. So again, we urge them to surrender before its too late,” said MGen Arevalo.
