Combined elements from the Army’s 49th Infantry Battalion (49IB) of the 9th Infantry Division and the Albay police captured two wounded CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and recovered the body of their slain comrade following a series of skirmishes in Oas, Albay on March 27, 2022.
Government forces identified the CNT fatality as Amancio M. Manto who was abandoned by his comrades at the encounter site in Barangay Badbad. Meanwhile, troops who conducted blocking operations in the nearby barangay of Bangiawon captured two wounded CNT who had fled from the first clash site.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 49IB troops and local police for their operational gains, and preserving the lives of the two combat-wounded CNTs.
