The Philippine Army’s 5th Special Forces Battalion (5SFBn) and local police forces neutralized four CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in a law enforcement operation at Sitio Limite, Upper Maculan, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato on April 8, 2022.
The four CNTs were conducting extortion activities in the community and has been the target for monitoring by security forces, according to 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central Major General Juvymax Uy. The suspects were aboard two motorcycles when they were flagged-down by 5SFBn troops who were manning a checkpoint.
The suspects however fired at the checkpoint and a ten-minute firefight ensued which resulted in the death of the 4 suspects identified as Ariel Moca Lasib alias” Jenrose”; a certain alias “Hadi”, the second Deputy Secretary of Guerilla Front MUSA, Far South Mindanao Region; Johndel Limosnero alias “Butod”, supply officer; and alias “Rex/Nomer”. Government forces captured from the neutralized CNTs four caliber .45 pistols; three improvised explosive devices and several communication equipment.
Acting Army Chief Vice Commander, Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Henry M. Doyaoen lauded the 5SFBn and local police for their steadfast commitment to safeguard communities from threats posed by communists-terrorists operating in their area of responsibility. He has reiterated the Army leadership’s thrust to bolster the capability of ground units to further capacitate them in dealing with security threats and other peace spoilers.
