One NPA killed and war materiel captured after the recent clash of troops of 11th Infantry (Lapulapu) Battalion against more or less 12 remnants of South East Front at Sitio Tulong, Brgy Enrique Villanueva, Sibulan, Negros Oriental at about 8 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
The Communist Terrorist Group still pursues their recovery efforts after being dismantled even if with the dwindling support from the masses. With the continuous effort of government forces in Southern Negros, 11IB continuously conducts combat and civil-military operations to prevent the recovery of confronted enemy.
The firefight lasted for 15 minutes and the enemy scampered to different directions. Operating troops employed K9 to follow the traces of the fleeing enemy along their withdrawal route and this resulted to the recovery of one cadaver of NPA terrorist identified as Jonard Salo @Lino/Rapid/Nikko, Team 2 Leader of the remnants under the dismantled southeast front (SEF) and a party husband of Marissa Ragay; and capture of one M14 rifle, one M16A1 rifle, one KG-9 rifle, one homemade shotgun, three rifle grenades, five IED/anti-personnel mines, 10 12-gauge ammo shot gun, five magazines, four M203, four bandoliers, two NPA flags, 12 backpacks, assorted ammunitions, other personal belongings, and subversive documents.
Lieutenant Colonel Roderick R. Salayo, Commanding Officer of 11IB assured to intensify the peace and order efforts in its area of operation.
“Our enemy is persistently trying to recover their forces and capabilities but your Army will continue to provide security and deliver the best services as much as we can in line with the campaign and mandate of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC). Our sympathy to the slain NPA and we will provide the necessary assistance to the bereaved family of @Lino. Nais po naming ipaabot sa mga natitirang myembro ng teroristang NPA na sumuko na kayo bago pa mahuli ang lahat, isipin nyo ang inyong asawa at mga anak na nag-aantay sa inyo bago pa mawalan ng saysay ang inyong buhay dulot ng pakikipaglaban sa maling prinsipyo.”
Further, Lt. Col. Salayo acknowledged the cooperation and vigilance of the residents and Local Government Units in their unconditional efforts and will in taking actions to end the local communist armed conflict in the area.
BGen Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of 302nd Brigade also conveyed, “The enemy is trying indeed to recover their loss area and recruit for new members; but our troops keep on preventing them because of the cooperation of the community by providing information about the CTG.”
“The government is calling our brothers and sisters deceived by false ideologies to abandon the armed struggle and return to the folds of law; rest assured that our security forces will assist them in availing the Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program which will change their lives for a better future and allow them to reunite with their respective families. Collective efforts of local populace, government and non-government line agencies, and various stakeholders are greatly contributing to the peace and progress of the whole Negros Island,” he added.
