Philippine Army’s 2IB captures CNT war materiel in Masbate clash

Troops from 2nd Infantry (SECOND TO NONE) Battalion seized war materiel after they encountered more or less 15 Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) members of Larangan 2, Komiteng Probinsya 4, Bicol Regional Party Commitee under an unknown leader in the boundaries of Brgy Buenasuerte and Brgy Lampuyang all of Pio V Corpuz, Masbate on April 18, 2022 at 7:00 in the morning.

Prior to the encounter, 2IB received a report from a concerned citizen about the extortion and recruitment activities of the CNT in the said barangays. Immediately the troops conducted security operation that led to the encounter between the 2IB Troops and the CNTs which lasted for about 30 minutes that resulted to the recovery of one M16 rifle, 103 rounds of ammunition, one Long (Plastic) magazine for M16 rifle, one anti-personnel mine (APM), seven pieces of blasting cap, three cellphones, two Cignus battery with one charger, three hammocks, one pc plier, one pc tester, one pc wallet with ID, medicines, subversive documents and early warning device.

“Once again we are thankful for the efforts of the community in giving us timely information about the presence of CPP-NPA-Terrorists and the threat that they are posing to the community”, Lieutenant Colonel Siegfried Felipe Awichen in his statement.

“These efforts of the community signifies their vigilance against the recruitment, terrorism and extortion modus of the CPP-NPA-Terrorists. Communities nowadays are well informed about the modus of this terrorist group and that they don’t want to be part of it and become victims of their modus”, he added.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Aldwine I. Almase, Commander of 903rd Infantry Brigade lauded the troops of 2IB for their bravery, vigilance and their timely action on the information given by the local populace.

“I hope that this encounter will serve as an eye-opener to those NPAs who are still hiding in the mountains, to surrender and enjoy government’s program through E-CLIP together with your love ones,” said Brig. Gen. Almase.

It can be recalled that from 01 January up to date, the 903rd Brigade’s Infantry Battalions have already captured 18 High Powered Fire Arms, 45 Low Powered Fire Arms, 27 Anti-Personnel Mines, and seized various war materiel from the communist terrorist group.

“And for those who fled during the clash, you can run but you cannot hide for long. We will continue to intensify our combat operations in coordination with the PNP and other Security Forces to protect the Masbateños from your lies, deception and your terroristic activities. We will not give you breathing space as you are continuously refusing to heed our call to return to the folds of the law,” he added.
