Two communist terrorist NPAs (CNTs) were killed in an encounter with government troops in Quezon province on April 18.

While conducting security operations at Sito Angelo, Barangay Umiray, General Nakar on Monday afternoon, troops from the Philippine Army’s 24th Division Reconnaissance Company under the 2nd Infantry Division chanced upon the more or less seven CNTs, resulting in a firefight.

The enemies could not hold their grounds which prompted them to withdraw, leaving behind their dead comrades. Two still unidentified NPAs died in the encounter. They belong to the communist terrorist group’s Platoon 1, Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Narciso.

The operating troops seized one M16 rifle, an M14 rifle, and one M203 Grenade launcher.

The AFP has stepped up its security operations against the CTG ahead of the May election to ensure that they cannot launch atrocities that may affect the people’s right to vote for their chosen leaders.
