5 NPAs surrender to AFP in Agusan del Sur

After experiencing hardship with the Communist Terrorist New People’s Army (NPA), five members voluntarily surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Agusan del Sur on Monday, May 9.

Members of the Army’s 3rd Special Forces Battalion facilitated the surrender of Alias Bebe, Alias Rowel, Alias Jenny, Alias Rey, and Alias Joy (true name withheld for their protection).

They turned themselves in at Brgy Cecilia, San Luis, Brgy New Salem, Bayugan City, and Brgy Libertad, Prosperidad, all of Agusan del Sur.

The NPA fighters were part of the Former Guerrilla Front 8, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (FGF8, NEMRC). They also yielded an M16 rifle, M203 Grenade Launcher, a revolver, a long magazine, and various ammunitions.

The surrendered personalities are now in the custody of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion for an interview and proper disposition. — AFP
