Philippine Army neutralize 2 CNT leaders, seize 4 firearms in Zamboanga del Norte

Operating troops of the 102nd Infantry Brigade (102Bde), 1st Infantry Division neutralized two ranking CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and captured four high-powered firearms following a 30-minute firefight in Barangay Midatag, Leon B. Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte on May 12, 2022.
The encounter against the regional leadership and remnants of defunct guerilla fronts of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) resulted in the neutralization of Loreto Dagpin alias “Elyong”, former Commanding Officer of the defunct Main Regional Guerilla Unit, and Rolando Maglasang alias “Mobin”, former Commanding Officer of the defunct Guerilla Front-BBC. Both are members of the Executive Committee of the WMRPC.
Captured after the firefight are one AK 47 (CZ Type), two 5.56mm M653, and one 5.56mm M16 rifle, five backpacks and personal belongings.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 102Bde troops for neutralizing the two CNT leaders and for capturing their war materiel. — PA
