231 candidate soldiers to embark on basic military training

The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division welcomes a new batch of candidate soldiers during the opening ceremony of the Candidate Soldier Course Class 732-2022 at the 6ID Grandstand today, May 20, 2022.

The 231 candidate soldiers are composed of 207 males and 24 females that will undergo 16 weeks of rigorous basic military training to transform them from carefree civilians into refined, valiant, and discipline Kampilan troopers at the 6th Division Training School (6DTS), one of the best training schools in the entire Philippine Army Major Units, situated at Brgy. Semba in the municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The training will also transform them into reliable, responsive, and committed enlisted personnel of the Philippine Army. Moreover, they will be taught the basic foundations of soldiery and the Army’s core values of being the future defenders of the nation.

Brigadier General Eduardo B. Gubat PA, Assistant Division Commander, 6ID, led the opening of the training of aspiring soldiers who composed the Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) Class 732 – 2022.

“To the 231 members of this class, I expect you to be strong, patience, humble, hard-working, and passionate. Remember that being a trainee is challenging, and you need to be at your best physical and mental state in order for you not only to survive but to exemplify professionalism and excellence as you go along in the military service”, said BGen. Gubat, during his speech.

These selected aspirants successfully passed the strict and meticulous selection processing standard set by the Philippine Army. They went through competitive Physical, Medical, Neurological and Psychological examinations.

Colonel Roberto A. Breboneria, the Division Adjutant read their appointment order and it was followed by oath-taking and turn-over of candidate soldiers led by Lt. Col. Randy S. Banaag GSC (Inf) PA, AC of S for Personnel, G1. The said Class was received by Colonel Clairemont W Pinpin GSC (Inf) PA, Commandant of 6DTS.

BGen. Gubat urged the aspiring soldiers to prove themselves worthy of the knowledge and skills imparted to them.

“The real-life of a soldier shall start as you face the numerous perils and challenges of real combat life. It will all depend on how you will be able to responsively and effectively perform your individual duties”, BGen. Gubat said in his concluding statement. — PA
