Patrolling troops of the 54th Infantry Battalion on community immersion in Asipulo town of Ifugao engaged a NPA unit on extortion mission in the village of Likew of barangay Namal yesterday.

The Army inflicted a number of NPA wounded and recovered 4 anti-personnel mines and personal belongings in the abandoned hideout.

“The timely tip from a local resident led to the armed encounter, indicating that the NPA has lost its base in Ifugao and that the people by all means will deny the reentry of NPA in their province,” Major Alex Alod of the 702nd Infantry Brigade underscored. — PA
