Army troops neutralize CNT, seize firearms in Northern Samar clash

Operating troops of the 81st Division Reconnaissance Company (81DRC), 8th Infantry Division neutralized a Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) following a 20-minute encounter at the vicinity of Sitio Cag-anibong, Barangay Bagacay, Palapag, Northern Samar last May 25, 2022.

Army troops captured an M16 rifle with seventy rounds of ammunition, three magazines, and a bandolier at the encounter site. Barangay officials identified the neutralized CNT as Geronimo Javier, a member of the Front Committee 15, the group responsible for intimidation, grave threats, and extortion activities that victimized village folk and small businesses in the communities in Northern Samar.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 81DRC troops for the successful operation which demonstrates their high level of professionalism and gallantry. The Army Chief likewise assured them of sufficient support from the Army leadership for their campaign of ending insurgency in their area of responsibility and bring lasting peace in Northern Samar. — PA
