The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) facilitated the surrender of two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members and one supporter in Panamao, Sulu on Saturday, May 28.
Troops from the Marine Battalion Landing Team-7 and 4th Marine Brigade in coordination with Panamao Municipal Police Station successfully turned over the individuals to local government officials.
The two ASG members were Abi Pala Daham and Bonijar Sali Misuari, both residents of Brgy. Lakit, Panamao, Sulu who operated under the late ASG sub-leader Juhurim Hussein.
The supporter identified himself as Jamar Ismon Julaid, resident of Upper San Raymundo, Jolo, Sulu who was also under Hussein’s leadership.
They brought along two M1 Garand rifles and one M1 Garand Clip with seven live ammunition.
The personalities were received by Hon. Al-Fraizer A Abdurajak, Mayor of Panamao; Hon. Rainier Agga, Brgy. Chairman of Seit Poblacion, Panamao, Sulu; and Hon. Benhar Muddakir, Brgy Chairman of Lakit, Panamao, Sulu. The turnover was witnessed by Police Lieutenant Benbadz Kalab from the Panamao MPS.
A medical check-up was conducted to the surrendered personalities before they were presented to Colonel Jonathan Gabor, Deputy Brigade Commander of 4MBde in Luuk, Jolo, Sulu for proper documentation and disposition. — AFP
