Soldiers seize terrorist’s firearm, ammunition in Samar

Troops of the Philippine Army’s 78th Infantry Battalion under the 8th Infantry Division seized an M-16 rifle, three magazines, and 76 rounds of ammunition while conducting combat operations in Barangay Pinanag-an, Borongan City, Eastern Samar on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

The soldiers discovered the war materials while pursuing the communist terrorist group (CTG) operating in the area. The operating troops also seized one bandolier and one backpack believed to belong to fleeing CTG members.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines intensified its focused military operations nationwide to defeat the CTG and prevent their recovery efforts. — PA
