The 10th Infantry “Agila” Division together with the Police Regional Office 11 arrested one personality posing as Army officer on June 1, 2022, in an entrapment operation at Brgy. Bagong Silang, Maragusan, Davao De Oro.
The suspect was identified as Kristoffer Niño Somoza Mudlong, 30 years old, a resident of Tondo, Manila who introduced himself as Colonel Daniel Dave Pascual Mendoza and a Military Physician under Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM). He wore the Philippine Army Pattern (Philarpat) uniform during the time of his apprehension.
Under the law, offender can be prosecuted for violations of Article 177 (Usurpation of Authority) of the Revised Penal Code for falsely representing as member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Article 179 (Illegal Use of Uniforms or Insignia), for wearing the Philippine Army uniform.
MGen Nolasco A Mempin, 10ID Commander said that the Agila Division will not tolerate this matter lightly. “We warned the public not to be fooled by posers. Your Philippine Army is a highly disciplined organization, and these criminals could affect the positive image of your Army if tolerated,” MGen Mempin added. — PA
