Sulu Provincial Task Force in Ending Local Armed Conflict (PTF-ELAC) and Area Clearing Validation Board (ACVB) Co-Chairmen Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan and Alakdan Division Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio declared a total of 18 barangays of Sulu free from Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) influence during the recently concluded ACVB meeting held at the Sulu Provincial Capitol in Barangay Bangkal, Jolo, Sulu on June 6, 2022.
During the Board meeting, Gov. Tan and Maj. Gen. Patrimonio concurred to the recommendation of the Community Support Program (CSP) Teams of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu for the clearing from ASG influence of the 18 barangays based on the parameters of AFP-PNP Joint Letter Directive Number 3, series of 2019.
The cleared barangays are Barangays Lantong and Lunggang in Maimbung, Sulu; Barangay Bud Bunga in Talipao, Sulu; Barangay San Raymundo in Jolo, Sulu; Barangays Pansul, Panglayahan, Tugas, Liang, Maligay, Sitio Buwahan-buwahan, Bangkal, Taung, Pangdanon, Bungkaong, Sitio Darayan, Sandah, Bakung, and Tanum in Patikul, Sulu; Barangays Pugad Manaol, Tinah, Bulangsih, Kan Bulak in Luuk, Sulu; Barangay Sucuban.
The Community Support Program (CSP) is a flagship program of the AFP used to clear communities of local terrorists’ influence.
