Four Communist NPA Terrorists, of which two were high-ranking leaders of the recently dismantled Guerilla Front 2 left no choice but to surrender to the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division in Maragusan, Davao De Oro on June 10, 2022, after they were surrounded by soldiers and have nowhere to go.
Alias “Dan-dan”, former Secretary of Guerilla Front 2; alias “Jeg”, party husband of Dan-dan and at the same time former Commanding Officer; alias Kevin/Jelong, former squad leader; and alias “Den-den”, squad supply officer of Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU) were about to be captured by the government forces when they decided to yield to Agila Division because they lost their will to fight.
According to them, aside from there’s no more place for them to move due to the effective counterinsurgency campaign of 10ID, they added that were abandoned by their top-ranking leader Eric Jun Casilao alias “Elian/Wally”, Secretary of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.
Major General Nolasco A Mempin, Commander 10ID lauded the decision of the NPA couple and former top leaders of the recently dismantled Guerilla Front 2. MGen Mempin added that “With only one (1) remaining guerilla front in Davao Region, we can say that the CTGs in Southern Mindanao is on the brink of collapse. Indeed, genuine peace and sustainable development is at hand.”
Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) already approved the dismantling of GF2 after satisfying the parameters of AFP-PNP Joint Letter Directive. It can be recalled that the Guerilla Front 2 was one of the oldest guerilla fronts in the country along with Guerilla Front 3, which was declared “dismantled” on April 12, 2022. Both guerilla fronts operated in Davao Region, and both were now dismantled. — PA
