The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), together with the 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade under the operational control of 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division, send their invitation to all tourists to come and visit Sulu, citing its improved peace and order situation in the province.
According to 1103rd Infantry Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Benjamin G Batara Jr, Sulu is relatively peaceful due to the absence of recorded violent clashes between the troops and Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and the last kidnapping incident was two years ago.
Last June 10, 2022, the MILG BARMM headed the groundbreaking ceremony of the reformation center in Barangay Langhub intended for the 400 Abu Sayyaf members who surrendered to the government in the previous times. The facility seeks to inculcate a culture of peace and a new law-abiding mindset among the Local Terrorist Group (LTG) members to become productive citizens of the mainstream society.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded the Alakdan Division on its relentless focus military operations (FMO) and purposive complementary efforts which brought Sulu to a peaceful and resilient province in Mindanao. — PA
