Combined forces of 81st Infantry (SPARTAN) Battalion and Philippine National Police (PNP), clashed against nine (9) Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members at Barangay Gñaran, San Fernando, Camarines Sur, 05:45 in the morning, Friday, June 17.

According to the report, an 8-minute gun battle ensued as the Government forces conducted a combat operation after receiving information from concerned citizens regarding the presence of several armed men at the said barangay.

Overpowered by the soldiers, the enemies were forced to withdraw and left one (1) of their members dead.

Moreover, the encounter resulted to the seizure of: one (1) M16A1 Rifle; one (1) Short magazine for M16; seventeen (17) rounds of ammunition; one (1) bandolier; and several terroristic propaganda materials.

Despite being new to the province, Lieutenant Colonel Racii Alejandro Sotto, Battalion Commander of 81IB emphasized the commitment of his unit in securing the locals and its area of operation against the evil will of the CTG.

Meanwhile, Colonel Edmundo Peralta, Brigade Commander of 902nd Infantry (FIGHT AND SERVE) Brigade, pointed out the great defeat of the CTG after the seizure of several of their terroristic propaganda materials, neutralization of one of their members and the continued repulsion of them by the people.

Moreover, Police Brigadier General Mario Reyes, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5), also highlighted the readiness of the PNP in cooperating with the Army in its campaign against the injustices of the CTG.

At the same time, Major General Alex Luna, Commander of 9ID and Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB), reiterated the openness of the government in receiving any CTG members willing to reunite and surrender.

Luna said. — PA
