The Philippine Army’s Assistant Chief of Staff for Command and Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems, G6, Col. Patriarch Robinson P. Pel highlighted the importance and urgency of having cyber-resilient systems and networks during the opening of the two-day PA Cybersecurity Summit at the Philippine Army Officers Clubhouse on June 23, 2022.
Col. Pel, in his opening remarks, highlighted the need to develop capabilities that will defend the Army’s infostructure and cybersystems. He highlighted the need for the creation of a pioneering two-pronged cyberdefense strategy.
“First, we must establish a stable system that will minimize the impact of an attack; second, we must enable the continuity of operations throughout and after an attack,” Col. Pel remarked.
“The outcome of this activity will open an opportunity for our organization to craft defensive measures and system fortifications through identification of gaps we have overlooked in past challenges and to take advantage of modern technologies and cybersolutions that will be exhibited on the summit’s second day,” Col. Pel added.
The 2022 edition of the summit, which is anchored on the theme “Resiliency in an Evolving Cybersecurity Landscape,” provided an avenue to assess the current state of PA cybersecurity posture and to identify trends and best practices that are critical to formulation of cybersecurity policies, projects, plans and programs. — PA
