Indonesia’s RIMPAC contingent visits BRP Antonio Luna

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii – Indonesia’s contingent to the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) led by the commanding officer of KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai (332), Captain Lewis Nogot Nainggolan, visited the Philippine Navy frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Welcoming them onboard was FF151’s commanding officer and concurrent commander of Naval Task Group 80.5, Captain Charles Merric Villanueva, along with other officers aboardship.

The visiting Indonesian Navy counterparts from the Martadinata-class frigate were given a ship’s tour of BRP Antonio Luna. There were also an exchange of mementos and a plaque of appreciation between the two ships.

Said visit was a gesture to reaffirm partnership and strengthen interoperability between nations.

Both neighboring countries are participating in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), the world’s premier naval exercise. — AFP
