Marine troops from the Marine Battalion Landing 12 under the 2nd Marine Brigade assisted six passengers who drifted to the shore and were rescued by a speedboat after their wooden-hulled boat sank in Baguan Island, Tawi-Tawi on July 7, 2022.
According to Naval Forces Western Mindanao PAO, the boat captain in the person of Abdulmuin S Paring mentioned that they left Tabawan, South Ubian, on the morning of July 5 and were heading for Taganak Island. Unfortunately, on the evening of July 6, their boat encountered bad weather, which led to the half-sinking of their wooden-hull boat near the beach of Baguan, Island.
Paring was accompanied by his boat crew, namely Radzmil Jurupin, Mawi Paring, and three unidentified locals as their passengers.
“The rescued individuals were given food and clothing and were eventually endorsed to the MSSD for possible aid and their proper disposition,” said BGen Romeo T Racadio PN(M).
