Philippine Army’s 62IB neutralizes CNT in Negros Oriental

Through the efforts of Mobile Community Support Sustainment Teams (MCSST), the 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion encounters more or less five Communist Terrorists Group (CTG) members in Sitio Taluktok, Brgy. Sandayao, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on July 20, 2022.

The firefight lasted for about five minutes that resulted to: one CTG member killed, captured of one KG9 loaded with one magazine, one magnum 357 loaded with three ammos, one hand grenade, and subversive CTG documents.

Accordingly, the troops were conducting patrol in the said area when concerned citizen tipped off the extortion activities by the CTG members in the area. The killed CN1 member is identified as Pompeo D. Landesa, 54 years old, a resident of Sitio Dako, Brgy. Sandayao, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, who was involved in various murder case and violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) since 2019.

62IB will tirelessly hunt the remaining CTG members in Central Negros. — PA
