More than 500 individuals received free services in the Medical and Dental Mission conducted by the personnel of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in Barangay Dicamay Dos, Jones, Isabela on August 14, 2022.
Together with the Department of Health Region 2 and Isabela Provincial Health, 238 locals have their medical consultation, 93 benefitted from tooth extraction & dental check up, 27 lads underwent circumcision, and 130 individuals got a haircut.
Aside from that, the troops of the 502nd Infantry Brigade, 5th Civil-Military Operation Battalion, Isabela Police Provincial Office, and Local Government Unit of Jones distributed relief assistance to 50 families, 15 students received school supplies, while 50 children benefitted from the feeding activity and enjoyed the games.
Moreover, tree growing activity was attended by the said government forces at Mina Hill where the name was derived from the Commander of 5th Infantry Division- MGen Laurence E Mina.
Jones Mayor Nhel Montano expressed his gratefulness to troops for extending free services for his constituents despite the geographical location of their community. “Nagpapasalamat po ako sainyo dahil hindi ninyo ininda ang mahabang paglalakbay marating lamang ang aming barangay at maabutan ng tulong ang mga taga rito.”
Meanwhile, MGen Mina recalled his experience in Dicamay Dos when he was a young Lieutenant. He nearly met his death because of an armed engagement between his unit and the Communist Terrorist Group.
“Ang aktibidad na ito ay bilang pasasalamat sa inyo dahil sa inyong pagkilala sa kabayanihan ng ating mga kasundaluhan na handa kayong ipagtanggol laban sa mga teroristang grupo. Inyong binibigyang saysay ang mga sakripisyo ng ating kasundaluhan maging ng mga kapulisan upang makamit lamang natin ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran. Ang aktibidad na ito ay simpleng pasasalamat namin sa inyong tiwala at suporta.”
A marker that states “Mina Hill” was put up to remind the civilian populace that the Armed Forces of the Philippines is always ready to risk and sacrifice lives in order to secure the land and protect its people. — PA
