Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – In response to the information given by a concerned citizen to the local police of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; a joint law enforcement operation was initiated by 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion, Provincial Police Office of Bulacan and San Jose Del Monte PNP and seized two (2) Caliber 5.56 mm M16 rifles in a secluded area at Sitio Balagbag, Barangay Paradise III, San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan on May 22, 2020.
In addition to the rifles, three (3) long aluminum magazines, one (1) short magazine, one (1) Bandolier and 97 5.56mm ammunition were also recovered by the joint elements of Army and PNP.
The result of the law enforcement operation confirmed that NPA bandits belonging to Platoon 4A4, Guerilla Front Cesar of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC) are in disarray as they left their firearms in a not so discreet area where ordinary civilians can easily discover.
Upon learning of the accomplishment, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr. AFP, the Commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division lauded the succesful joint Army and PNP law enforcement operation. He also said, “It is noteworthy that the system emplaced in the Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support (PLEDS) Cluster as one of the lines of effort of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) is working well between the Army and the PNP in Bulacan.”
Relatedly, Colonel Andrew D. Costelo, the Commander of the Army’s 703rd Infantry Brigade said, “While we are in the midst of our difficult battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not letting our guards down in our task to end the local communist armed conflict against the NPA bandits.”
On the part of the PNP, Police Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan Provincial Director stressed the good rapport between the Army and the PNP in the province of Bulacan is one of the reasons of the recovery of the NPA firearms, and he assured that PNP Bulacan under his leadership will continue to keep an eye for the safety and security of everyone, together with the Army and other law enforcement agencies.
