CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – A former Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) combatant and four loose firearms surrendered were presented to 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Jesus Rico D. Atencio in a simple ceremony at 1st Mechanized Brigade Headquarters in Brgy Kamasi, Ampatuan, Maguindanao, on August 13.
The surrenderer, accompanied by Mamasapano Mayor Akmad A. Ampatuan, has turned in a caliber 5.56 M16 rifle.
Meanwhile, Datu Piang Mayor Victor T. Samama turned over loose firearms from his constituents that includes 2 caliber 30 Garrand rifles, 1 carbine rifle, and 1 caliber 7.62 sniper rifle.
Maj Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon, Commander of Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division, commended the local government chiefs of Mamasapano and Datu Piang towns for their cooperation and support to the Army in its peace building efforts.
