Defense Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans, and Retiree Affairs Reynaldo Mapagu and Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Antonio Bautista visited the Headquarters of the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) earlier today, September 11, 2020, at Camp Riego De Dios in Tanza, Cavite.
The visiting DND senior leaders were welcomed by MGen Peale John Bondoc, the ARESCOM Commander, and the staff of the Army Reserve Command.
During the visit, MGen Bondoc gave a briefing on the current situation of the Army Reserve Command and its subordinate units as well as ARESCOM’s thrusts towards developing the Army’s Reserve Force.
Various issues related to reservist affairs were discussed during the briefing and some personnel-related concerns were immediately addressed by ASec Bautista.
Also discussed were the ARESCOM’s plans in implementing the ROTC in the new normal as well as the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Projects for ARESCOM units. An overview of the TIKAS Program as well as the list of Reserve Force Related projects endorsed by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to the DPWH was presented for the attendees.
In his remarks, USec Mapagu called on the assistance of the Reserve Force in the activities related to the NTF-ELCAC and E-CLIP.
Also present during the briefing via video teleconferencing were representatives from OJ9, AFP; AFPRESCOM; OG9, PA; Air Force Reserve Command; Naval Reserve Command; Office of Civil Defense; and OASPP, DND.
MGen Bondoc also gave a tour of their organic farm inside Camp Riego De Dios. This organic farm came into fruition with the technical assistance of the Department of Agriculture-CALABARZON.
USec Mapagu also visited the PVAO FSEO Cavite also located in Camp Riego De Dios. The PVAO FSEO Cavite is currently undergoing renovation with 90% completion however construction has been delayed due to the pandemic.
