Joint Task Force Sulu (JTFS) and the 11th Infantry Division (11ID) commended the efforts of the 45th Infantry Battalion (45IB) under 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT) of the JTFS for its essential contribution in line with unit’s campaign.
On July 3, 2020 at around 8 o’clock in the evening, two (2) Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members’ Alhadi Abdulgani and Nassae Pasihul under ASG leader Radullan Sahiron, surrendered and brought with them their high-powered rifles at Headquarters 45IB, Barangay Tugas, Patikul, Sulu.
Alhadi and Nassae surrendered to the military due to the sincerity of the soldiers in Sulu to end the local armed conflict and the hardship they experienced from the rigorous combat operations. They also said that they long to be with their families and loved ones.
Lieutenant Colonel Ruben B. Guinolbay, the Commanding Officer of 45IB calls for other members of the ASG to submit themselves to the folds of law and committed to further extend his hand to help those who are in need. “Sa direksyon ng pamunuan ng 11th Infantry Division at 1st Brigade Combat Team, ang 45IB-Gallant ay tapat at tiwasay na tatanggapin kayong sinuman na naligaw ng landas, bandido o terorista man. Layon namin mabigyan kayo ng pagkakataon at makapagbagong-buhay upang makapamuhay ng marangal kasama ang iyong mga mahal sa buhay, at sabay po nating abutin ang tunay na kapayapaan sa probinsya ng Sulu.” he said.
Colonel Benjamin G. Batara, Commander of 1BCT praised the efforts of Lieutenant Colonel Guinolbay for the said deed. He also lauded Lieutenant Colonel Leah L. Santiago, Commanding Officer of 9th Field Artillery Battalion together with Hon. Kabir E. Hayudini, Mayor of Patikul, Sulu and Police Captain Albert M. Cabungco for the support that made this distinguished accomplishment.
Major General Corleto S. Vinluan Jr. PA, Commander of JTFS and 11ID appreciated the efforts of 45IB-Gallant of the 1BCT for their commitment to the mission. “Our labours have see its fruits to what 45IB-Gallant showed. Let us continue to help the people of Sulu to realize what true peace really means and further work it hand-in-hand together with the Local Government Units and other stakeholders to end the local armed conflict,” he said.
