Navy ship safely returns to Cebu to deliver more relief assistance to the typhoon-hit families in Catanduanes

Naval Forces Central welcomed the safe return of our “unsung heroes” who extended help for the typhoon-hit communities in Virac, Catanduanes yesterday morning, November 18.

The Commanding Officer of BRP BATAK (LC299), CDR DEXTER A CAGA-ANAN PN, safely led the successful transport of Cebu City Government Local Government Units, Quick Response Team. The Cebu City LGU, represented by Councilor Dave Tumulak, handed-over to Catanduanes Province Governor Joseph Cua 5 million financial assistance and relief donations from the “Sugbuanons.”

The Cebu City QRT also conducted clearing and cleaning operations at the main roads and assisted in restoring torn electrical lines that were immensely devastated by the typhoon.

BRP BATAK will undertake another transport mission to deliver donations from; ShelterBox Operations Philippines, Inc. such as emergency shelter kits and other household items, Rotary Club of Cebu such as clothing, one (1) sack of utensils and 1000 pcs foods packs, and 513rd Naval Squadron Reserve (Navy Reservists from Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Moalboal, and Ronda municipalities) through Naval Reserve Center – Eastern Visayas relief items comprises of used clothing, mineral water, canned goods, and instant noodles to support the affected families of Typhoon “Rolly” and “Ulysses” in the Bicol Region.

The destination of the said donations will be delivered to Virac, Catanduanes. Said relief goods were consolidated by the Naval Forces Central in partnership with the different government, non-government units, and other cause-oriented organizations in the Visayas Region. — Philippine Navy
