New chief of Naval staff assumes post

NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila- The Philippine Navy (PN) welcomed its new Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Adm. Adeluis S. Bordado, during the Change of Chief of Office ceremony presided by the Flag Officer In Command (FOIC), PN, Vice Adm. Giovanni Carlo J. Bacordo held here at the Navy headquarters today, May 11.

Rear Adm. Bordado replaced Rear Adm. Rey T. Dela Cruz who is now the Navy’s vice commander.

Rear Adm. Bordado is the former commander of the AFP Education, Training and Doctrine Command before becoming the new Chief of Naval Staff. He hails from Camarines Sur and is a member of the PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988.

The office of the Chief of Naval Staff has the overarching role of being one of the key advisers of the FOIC, PN and likewise administers the HPN staff – the central nervous system of the Navy – in the accomplishment of the respective mission.

The Change of Chief of Office is a time-honored tradition in the military service that emulates the important ability of each and every naval officer to assume post to better serve the organization.
