PAF formally accepts S-70i Black Hawk Helicopters

On 10 December 2020, the Philippine Air Force, under the leadership of LTGEN ALLEN T PAREDES PAF, formally accepted the six (6) of the 16 ordered Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk Helicopters during the Acceptance, Turn-Over, and Blessing Ceremony at the Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, with Secretary Delfin N Lorenzana of the Department of National Defense as the Guest of Honor.

The activity was also participated by His Excellency Joroslaw Szczepankiewicz, the Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland, LTGEN ERICKSON R GLORIA PAF, the Vice Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, PAF Unit Commanders, to include the Commander, Air Mobility Command, MGEN SIMEON Z FELIX JR PAF, and the Wing Commander, 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing, AMC, BGEN TEOFILO R BAILON JR PAF, and selected HPAF Staff.

The S70i Black Hawk Helicopters, as medium transport helicopters, are capable of flying at speeds of 224mph/361kph and have a range of 290 miles/460 km. They can accommodate 11-12 combat-ready troops or 9,000lbs of payload.

These new PAF platforms, which will be maintained by the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing, under the Air Mobility Command, Philippine Air Force, shall boost the capability of AFP in performing Combat Missions, Humanitarian Assistance, and Disaster Response operations and assist in the national development programs of the government especially during this time of the pandemic. — Philippine Air Force
