Philippine Marines Troops apprehends 15M-worth of smuggled cigarettes in Cotabato

Personnel of 1st Marine Brigade (1MBde) successfully apprehended 432 boxes of assorted smuggled imported cigarettes with an estimated market value of P15,120,000 while conducting checkpoint operation along Rio Grande River, Kalanganan Detachment, Brgy. Mother Kalanganan, Cotabato City on December 6, 2020.

The confiscated goods were found onboard a Jungkong type watercraft named M/B Alshameem when the apprehension took place.

The said watercraft is allegedly owned by a certain Mr. Saddam H Ahalul. During the apprehension, 10 personalities were onboard the watercraft, namely: Temhar KALINGGALAN, 34 years old; Tabuan LASABAS, 28 years old; Jomar Abduhajid ISAHAR, 27 years old; Nadmer DANI, 21 years old, Jalil TALLIH, 45 years old, Aramil RAHAMBAN, 32 years old, Alkeser JARMANI, 20 years old, Patar DAMANANG, 24 years old, Sikal WAJA, 54 years old and Nasarudin GUIPAN, 37 years, old all residents of Basilan Province.

After the apprehension, the 10 apprehended personalities were immediately brought to CRMC for a medical check-up for the proper turn-over to Police Precinct 4, CCPO.

Meanwhile, the confiscated cigarettes and watercraft remained in the custody of Kalanganan Marine Battalion Detachment.

Accordingly, the confiscated cigarettes were turned-over to the personnel of BOC 2020 and were thereafter brought to BOC Davao for proper disposition. The watercraft, on the other hand, is currently docked at Kalanganan MB Detachment, pending the filing of the case by the BOC.
