Soldiers, local terrorists clash in Sulu

While conducting combat operation, troops of the 45th Infantry Battalion encountered more or less 20 local terrorist group members at Sitio Bud Kaha, Barangay Bungkaung, Patikul, Sulu in the afternoon of September 20.

A firefight ensued which lasted for 45 minutes after which the enemy withdrew towards northeast direction bringing along their casualties with them.

“Three of our soldiers were slightly wounded in the encounter and we pray for their fast recovery,” said Brig. Gen. William Gonzales, JTF Sulu Commander.

Casualties on the enemy side are yet to be determined.

“We sustain our focused military operations to destroy enemy strongholds and to thwart the terror plots of the local terrorist group,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander.

“We call on our prayer warriors to continuously pray for the safety and protection of our soldiers,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. added.
